(April 27, 2014) I had the honor to be the speaker at the 69th Annual Lincoln Pilgrimage Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Oak Ridge cemetery, The event is held at the Vietnam, Korean War, and the WWII Memorials. It was an amazing sight to look out and see the line of American Flags held by boy scouts and Eagle Scouts that lined the road ways to the memorials and the parking lots. The Eagle Scout Honor Guard, Abraham Lincoln Council included a 21 gun salut to honor those that served their country and gave all they had to give.

Surrounded by Scouts brought back memories of my time as a boy scout. The center of my world then was the 7th floor in a 14 story project building, my world was the 3 block area around that building. Then I attended a boy scout jamboree, it changed my world. Seeing boy scouts from around the world opened my mind to something more than the 3 block area where I lived. It showed me how much I didn’t know, that I need to learn more about the world.
